Preview: @DuqLax vs. Saint Francis U

GAME NOTES
  • Duquesne (2-0) returns to action after 13-day hiatus to host intrastate foe Saint Francis U (0-2) out of the Northeast Conference on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Rooney Field.
  • The Dukes opened the season with wins over Longwood and Butler.
  • Duquesne is seeking just its second 3-0 start in program history and first since 1999 when the Dukes began the season 4-0.
  • DU was slated to host No. 10 Penn State last Wednesday, but the contest was postponed to April 16 due to inclement weather.
  • Duquesne's Sydney Reed was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 18 for her performance in the Dukes' win at Butler. The sophomore defender finished with six caused turnovers and five ground balls in the victory.
  • Megan Buettner leads DU with nine points on the year including a team-high eight goals.
THE SERIES
  • The Dukes own a 9-0 advantage in the all-time series.
  • Duquesne has netted at least 15 goals in all nine meetings.
  • DU is averaging 17.6 goals per game in the all-time series vs. the Red Flash.
THE LAST MEETING
  • Duquesne claimed an 18-15 victory last season in Loretto, Pa. for its first win of the season on March 1, 2018.
  • Eight different Dukes found the back of the net keyed by four goals from Megan Buettner.
  • Haley MatthaiSarah KollhoffMichaela Connollyand Maddie Hart each had two goals and an assist for the Dukes. Hart added six ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers in the win.
SCOUTING THE RED FLASH
  • Saint Francis U enters with an 0-2 ledger after dropping an 18-13 decision at Radford to open the season followed by a 19-4 defeat at Lehigh.
  • The Red Flash open the 2019 campaign with five away contests. SFU will travel to East Carolina and Wofford following the matchup on The Bluff.
  • SFU posted a 7-10 overall mark with a 3-4 record in NEC play in 2018. The Red Flash won three of four to close out the year.
  • Morgan Day leads SFU with eight goals in 12 shot attempts on the season.

Duquesne hosts Detroit Mercy this Sunday, March 3 at noon ET before traveling to Robert Morris on Wednesday, March 6.
