Pound Princeton 94-67 at PPG Paints Arena

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne, which rallied from double-digit deficits to win eight times last season, picked up where it left off, erasing a 14-point first half deficit in defeating Princeton, 94-67, in the season-opener at PPG Paints Arena.

Sophomore Sincere Carry had 23 points and five assists and graduate transfer Baylee Steele added 19 points - including a career-high three 3-pointers - for the Dukes who shot 64 percent in outscoring the Tigers 57-25 in the second half. Marcus Weathers scored 10 of his 16 points in the second half for DU which shot 57 percent on the evening.

Drew Friberg and Richmond Aririguzoh led Princeton with 19 points each.

Duquesne hit four 3-pointers - including two from Maceo Austin - in the first 5:30 of the second half to take a 54-50 lead. Austin's three started a 25-4 run that put the game out of reach.

Carry had a pair of 3-pointers and Weathers had two conventional three-point plays during the run.

The Dukes, who fell behind 23-9 early, pulled to within five on the second of back-to-back Lamar Norman Jr. 3-pointers with just under eight minutes to go in the half.

Steele, who entered the game 2-of-11 from 3-point in his first 68 college games, hit his third 3-pointer to make it 27-25. DU took its first lead on a Carry 3-pointer with 4:44 to go.

Princeton closed with a 10-3 run to take a 42-37 lead at the half.

Duquesne turned 17 Princeton turnovers into 34 points in outscoring the Tigers 34-9 off turnovers.

Duquesne returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 12 when it hosts Lamar at La Roche University at 7:00 p.m. (ESPN+).
