Duquesne was up one when Baylee Steele, who missed his first six 3-point attempts, buried one from the top of the key at the shot clock horn to give the Dukes a 58-54 lead.

Carry, who went 3-of-3 from the arc, banked in a three to make it 61-56 with 3:40 left. Hughes followed with a put-back dunk to make it a seven-point game as Duquesne put the clamps on defensively.

Duquesne, which shot 26 percent in the first half, rallied to shoot 50 percent in the final 20 minutes. Lamar shot 38.7 percent in the second half to finish at 43.5 percent.

Duquesne, which missed 14 of its first 16 shots, went scoreless for over six minutes in falling behind 16-7. Austin then caught fire, scoring seven of eight DU points before Tavian Dunn-Martin gave the Dukes a 20-18 lead on a 3-pointer.

The Dukes held the Cardinals scoreless for nearly six minutes in regaining the lead.

Lamar's Ayaan Sohail hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left to tie it at 23-23 at the half.

Hughes, who scored seven in the first four minutes of the second half, put the Dukes up 35-30 on a dunk off a pass from Marcus Weathers.
