PITTSBURGH -
Eric Williams Jr. scored 14 of his team-high 16 points in the second half to help Duquesne (10-5, 1-1) snap a two-game losing streak with a 66-61 Atlantic 10 win over Fordham (9-6, 0-2) at the Palumbo Center.
Williams Jr., who added a game-high 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season, was joined in double figures by
Marcus Weathers with 12 points and freshman
Amari Kelly with a career-high 11.
Fordham took its first lead since 4-2 on a David Pekarek 3-pointer that made it 46-45 with just under 10 minutes left.
Tavian Dunn-Martin was fouled on a 3-point attempt and converted all three free throws to give DU a lead Fordham would not overcome, as Williams Jr. followed with a 3-pointer to put the Dukes up five.
Fordham cut it to two twice, the last with 4:14 left, before Kelly scored back-to-back buckets to give the Dukes some breathing room at 59-53. The Rams made it a three-point game on another Pekarek 3-pointer, but on the ensuing possession Williams Jr. was fouled on a highlight-reel-quality follow-up dunk and made the free throw to push the lead back to six at the 1:34 mark.
Nick Honor hit a 3-pointer to make it 62-59, but the Rams' Jesse Bunting missed an attempt that would have cut it to one with 44 seconds left.
Williams Jr. pulled down the rebound and hit two free throws.
Frankie Hughes added two more from the charity stripe with seven seconds left for the final margin.
The Dukes, who limited Fordham to 36.4 percent shooting, outscored the Rams 15-5 off turnovers and 16-2 from the foul line.
Duquesne which had two fewer field goals than Fordham, shot 46.8 percent.
Duquesne completes its two-game homestand on Saturday, Jan. 12 when it hosts Saint Joseph's at 4:00 p.m. at Palumbo Center. Saturday's game will be televised on AT&T SportsNet will also be streamed on ESPN+.

- Duquesne's victory - its ninth in the past 14 series meetings - ended a three-game Fordham win streak at A.J. Palumbo Center.
- Eric Williams Jr. finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. Williams Jr. has 16 double-doubles in 47 career games.
- Freshman Amari Kelly finished with a career-high 11 points. His previous best was five (three times, the last vs. NJIT). Kelly was 3-of-3 (6 points) in the first half. Kelly is the 10th Duke to reach double digits this season.
- This was the 14th consecutive game at least 11 players saw action for the Dukes.
- Duquesne assisted on 13 of its 22 field goals.
