O'Such, Elliott Garner A-10 Weekly Awards

April 24, 2018

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference announced its Men's Track and Field weekly awards on Tuesday evening with two Duquesne men's track and field student-athletes garnering recognition. Senior David O'Such (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) was named A-10 Track Performer of the Week while freshman Isaac Elliott (Ambridge, Pa./Ambridge) repeated as A-10 Rookie of the Week.

O'Such becomes the first Duke to earn A-10 Performer of the Week honors since Ian Welch on April 20, 2015. Elliott, who last week became the first Duquesne athlete to be named A-10 Rookie of the Week since Shakeil Carter on April 2, 2012, is now the first Duke to garner A-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice since current Duquesne assistant coach Tom Slosky on April 18, 2005 and April 25, 2005.

O'Such and Elliott were both part of a pair of record-breaking relay teams at last weekend's Bucknell Team Challenge in the 4x100 meter relay (41.23) and the 4x400 meter relay (3:13.65).

O'Such also paced the 400 meter dash with a mark of 47.74 and Elliott won the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.54.

O'Such's time in the 400 meter ranks third in the A-10 so far this season, while Elliott is still second in the conference in the 100 meter and third in the 200 meter, as well.

The Dukes are back in action this week at the Penn Relays (April 26-28) and the St. Francis (Pa.) Invitational (April 28).
