THE SERIES
- The Retrievers own a 3-2 edge in the series which began in 1997.
- The series is tied 1-1 in Pittsburgh, with the Dukes claiming an 8-7 victory over UMBC on March 5, 2011.
SCOUTING THE DUKES- Duquesne closes the home portion of its non-conference schedule hosting UMBC at noon ET on Saturday at Rooney Field. The Dukes are coming off their first victory of the season in an 18-15 triumph at St. Francis on Thursday, March 1.
- Junior attacker Megan Buettner (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) had a career-high four goals against the Red Flash, pacing eight different DU players to score in the win. Senior attacker
Jill Vacanti (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) had her second hat trick of the season and 18th of her career in the triumph.
- Sophomore midfielder Maddie Hart (Sykesville, Md./Century) leads the A-10 with 23 draw controls on the year while junior midfielder
Sarah Kollhoff (Exton, Pa./Downington) is third in the conference with 10 caused turnovers. Junior defender
Erin Conway (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge), Hart and Kollhoff are tied for fourth with 12 ground balls each.
SCOUTING THE RETRIEVERS
- UMBC is off to a 5-1 start following two straight wins over American (14-2) and Coastal Carolina (13-10). The Retrievers' lone loss on the year came to No. 4 Maryland by a score of 21-12.
- UMBC was selected to finish third in the America East preseason poll following an 11-6 finish last year with a 4-2 mark in league action.
- Junior attacker Sara Moeller leads the country scoring 7.5 points per game (21 G, 15 A). She had six goals and a pair of assists against the Dukes last season.

The Dukes cap their non-conference schedule by traveling to Michigan for a pair of road games next week, taking on Central Michigan on March 15 at 4 p.m. and Detroit Mercy on March 17 at 3 p.m.
