FINAL RESULTS
KINGSTON, R.I. - Sophomore Bethany Evankovich earned a pair of gold medals with school-record performances in the 200-meter dash and the 500-meter run to pace the Duquesne women's track and field team to a fifth-place finish at the 2018 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship this weekend at Mackal Field House.
Evankovich shattered the school record in the 200 meter with a mark of 24.70 in the finals on Sunday. This topped the previous record of 25.06 set by Melissa Miller in 2010. In addition, she set a new record in the 500 meter with a time of 1:12.73, besting the record of 1:13.12 set by Anna Simone in 2014.
The Dukes finished with 77 points at the two-day championship meet. VCU claimed the title with 122.5 points followed by George Mason second with 102.5, Dayton with 94 and Richmond with 84.
All told, Duquesne posted five medal-winning performances at the meet.
Junior Shannon Taub (Philadelphia, Pa./Council Rock) collected a silver medal in the pentathlon with a total score of 3,520 on Saturday. She won the high jump with a mark of 1.70m to go with a second-place finish in the shot put at 12.34m in the event.
Freshman Chyna Beck (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) earned a bronze medal in the 60-meter hurdles for the Dukes, crossing the finish line in 8.80 on Sunday. She added a fifth-place mark of 11.59 in the triple jump for Duquesne.
Sophomore Maiah Yankello (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) also picked up a bronze medal in the 800-meter run for the Dukes with a time of 2:12.10 in the event.
