ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Julijana Vojinovic scored 14 points – including her 1,000
th of her career in Duquesne's 87-71 loss against #15/14 Syracuse in the first game of the St. Pete Shootout held at Eckerd College.
Laia Sole also scored 14 points and
Kadri-Ann Lass 12.
Paige Cannon and
Libby Bazelak each had six rebounds.
Amanda Kalin recorded four assists.
Six Orange scored in double-figures led by Tiana Mangakahia.
With the Dukes trailing 12-9 midway through the 1
st quarter, SU went on a 10-0 run and scored 15 of the last 20 points to go ahead 27-14 after 10 minutes.
The Dukes were able to get within seven points of tying on a Sole layup at 6:39 of the 2
nd quarter, but the Orange answered with a 9-0 run to take a 40-24 lead at 4:58.
Vojinovic's 3-pointer at 6:32 of the 3
rd quarter made the score 47-40, but Duquesne would only record one field goal over the next 4:20 and were staring at a 22-point deficit at 64-42.
