PITTSBURGH - Duquesne running back A.J. Hines (Wilson, N.C./Fike) added his seventh postseason award on Friday, as the junior was named an American Football Coaches Association FCS Coaches' First Team All-American.
The 2016 Jerry Rice Award winner was also a STATS FCS First Team All-American, an Associated Press FCS Second Team All-American, a HERO Sports Second Team All-American, Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, First Team All-NEC and First Team All-ECAC. In addition, he was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award for FCS Offensive Player of the Year.
The Wilson, N.C. native becomes the first AFCA FCS Coaches All-American since Christian Kuntz in 2016.
Hines tallied 1,520 rushing yards with 17 total touchdowns on the year. He recorded seven 100-yard rushing performances and registered over 200 yards from scrimmage in five games, helping the Dukes to an NEC title as well as an FCS Playoff berth. He closed out the season third in the FCS in rushing yards and fifth in the nation in rushing yards per game (126.7 ypg).
