PASADENA, Calif. - Duquesne wide receiver
Nehari Crawford (Fort Pierce, Fla./Fort Pierce Central) has accepted an invitation to play in the eighth annual National Football League Players Association Collegiate Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., bowl officials announced on Friday.
The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl features over 100 of the nation's top draft-eligible prospects. The game culminates a week-long experience during which the participants will learn about the business of football.
Former NFL head coaches Chuck Pagano and Mike Tice will serve as head coaches at the Collegiate Bowl. In addition, former NFL standouts such as Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, Plaxico Burress will serve as assistant coaches.
Crawford finished his Duquesne career as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (2,719) and receptions (190) to go with 31 receiving touchdowns. He also served as a returner for the Dukes, capping his career with 4,274 all-purpose yards, a pair of return touchdowns and a rushing score.
A two-time First Team All-NEC selection, he eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in each of the last two seasons, becoming just the second Duquesne player (Chris King) in the FCS era to do so.
He recorded over 100 yards receiving in 10 career games, including an 11-catch, 223-yard performance with a pair of touchdowns in a victory over Dayton earlier this season. Crawford also hauled in 10 receptions for 124 yards, including the NEC championship-clinching 56-yard touchdown reception in the final minute of the win over Central Connecticut.
Crawford helped the Dukes to three NEC titles and a pair of FCS Playoff appearances.
This marks the second straight year in which Duquesne will be represented at the Collegiate Bowl, as offensive lineman
Ben Huss participated last season.
