Dukes Compete at Youngstown State College Invitational

RESULTSYOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Duquesne women's track and field team competed at the Youngstown State College Invitational on Friday, the Dukes' second of three meets at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS) this season.

Duquesne posted six top-three finishes on the day, including first-place marks by freshman Chyna Beck (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) in the triple jump (11.71m) and senior Gabriella Benninger (Ridgway, Pa./Ridgway) in the unseeded high jump (1.51m).

Junior Shannon Taub (Philadelphia, Pa./Council Rock) placed second in the seeded high jump with a mark of 1.66m in the event.

Senior Victoria Soeder (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) recorded a second-place finish in the long jump (5.46m) while the Dukes' 4x400 meter relay team of sophomores Bethany Evankovich (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane), Kel-Lisa Sebwe (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and Maiah Yankello (Monaca, Pa./Central Valley) and freshman Gabby Holmberg (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) posted a second-place time of 3:51.57 in the race.

Evankovich also placed third in the 400-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 56.74.

UP NEXT

The Dukes are back in action next weekend at the Penn State National Open on Jan. 26-27 in University Park, Pa.
