March 22, 2017 PITTSBURGH - A total of 22 scouts representing 18 National Football League teams visited the Duquesne campus for the program's annual Pro Day on Wednesday morning.
Quarterback Dillon Buechel, receivers Wayne Capers Jr. and Blair Roberts, linebackers Christian Kuntz and Gary Wooten as well as offensive lineman Larson Graham - part of a class that won three Northeast Conference titles - took part in the morning workout that ran from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
The day began with bench press and vertical jump testing in Palumbo Center and concluded with speed tests and position-specific drills on Rooney Field.
"The annual Duquesne Pro Day has always been a great opportunity for us to showcase our seniors," said head coach Jerry Schmitt. "This event has consistently drawn a large number of NFL scouts that we are more than happy to accommodate on our campus. Having this kind of turnout is a credit to the work our players have put in during their time at Duquesne."
"To be able to go through drills in front of this caliber of an audience - on our home field - is an invaluable experience," said Kuntz, a two-time All-American. "It was a tremendous opportunity."
Duquesne, which is in the midst of spring drills, will stage its annual spring scrimmage on Saturday, April 1. The team will take the field for warm-ups at Noon, with a controlled situational scrimmage scheduled to start around 12:45 p.m.
The event will be open to the public.
