YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Duquesne women's track and field team opened the 2017-18 indoor season on Friday evening at the Youngstown State Icebreaker at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
The Dukes posted five first-place finishes at the event, including three by Bethany Evankovich and a pair of wins by Maiah Yankello.
Evankovich paced the 200-meter dash (25.17) before claiming the title in the 400-meter dash (56.35). She was also part of Duquesne's 4x400 meter relay squad with Yankello, Gabby Holmberg and Kel-Lisa Sebwe which won the crown in the race with a mark of 3:51.64.
Yankello won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.54, while Sebwe came in second in the 400-meter dash at 56.97.
Ava Pietrzyk (3000-meter run - 10:42.41) and Victoria Soeder (long jump - 5.55m) also won their respective events for the Dukes, while Maris Seto placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.63m and Chyna Beck finished second in the triple jump at 11.58m.
