Sept. 26, 2016 PITTSBURGH - A.J. Hines was named Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive time for his performance in Duquesne's 36-28 loss to Kennesaw State on Saturday.
The first-year running back logged 152 yards from scrimmage, including a game-high 91 yards on 25 rushes and 61 yards on four receptions (15.3 ypc.). His 28-yard reception helped set up DU's final touchdown.
The Wilson, N.C. native leads the Dukes with 373 yards rushing and five touchdowns through four games. His three Rookie of the Week mentions this season have tied the school record for NEC Rookie honors in a year shared by Chidozie Oparanozie (2008), all-time leading rusher Larry McCoy (2009) and current starting quarterback Dillon Buechel (2013).
