Duquesne Lacrosse Falls at UMass, 15-9

Duquesne's lacrosse team (3-6, 1-1 A10) lost to #20 Massachusetts (9-1, 2-0), 15-9 Sunday afternoon in Amherst.

Jill Vacanti led the Dukes with five goals, followed by Kaelin Shaw with two and Haley Matthai and Tess Drotar with one each. Shaw and Meredith Micho each had assists.

The Minutewomen jumped out to a 3-0 lead before back-to-back goals by Vacanti made it 3-2 at the 20:41 mark. UMass however would tally the next six goals and eight of the final nine of the half to take an 11-3 lead into the intermission.

Shaw and Vacanti scored the first two goals of the second half to pull to within 11-5, but UM scored the next three to help secure the victory.

Jenna Bishop faced 39 shots in the contest, making 12 saves.

The Dukes return home on Friday, April 8 as they host VCU at 4:00 pm on Rooney Field.
