FINAL: Duquesne 4, Saint Joseph's 1
TEAM RECORDS: DUQ 16-5, SJU 8-14
QUICK RECAP: The Duquesne women's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2016 Atlantic 10 Championship after defeating Saint Joseph's on Thursday afternoon. The Dukes tie a program record with their 16th victory of the season with the win.
Due to the threat of rain in the Cincinnati metro area, the event -- which was originally scheduled to be played at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio -- was moved indoors 15 miles south to the Camargo Racquet Club. Due to court space, singles were played first. If the teams were to split the singles, only then were doubles to be played.
Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Julianne Herman started things off for the Dukes with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at #2 singles over Maureen Devlin. Alexa Miller put Duquesne up 2-0 after a 6-1, 6-1 win over Alex Zachem at #4 singles. The Hawks cut the deficit to 2-1 when Arianne Polatnick defeated Megan Wasson 6-1, 6-3 at #5 singles. Maddy Adams was a 6-0, 7-6 winner over Kristina Eisenbrand at #3 singles. The match clincher came at #1 singles with Kylie Isaacs winning against Claire Minnoe 7-5, 6-4 at #1 singles. Ally Miller led Anne Marie Devlin 6-3, 1-0 when the match was decided.
UP NEXT: The Dukes will face #3 seed Davidson (16-4) Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
