The Duquesne women's tennis team played a pair of matches over Spring break. The Dukes started with a 6-1 victory over South Carolina State on March 1st before falling in a tight-knit match against Towson 4-3.
Against SCSU, the Dukes swept the double point and took five of the six singles points. Kylie Isaacs and Julianne Herman were 6-3 winners at #1 double, Megan Wasson and Alexa Miller 6-1 winners at #2 and Ally Miller and Maddy Adams 6-2 winners at #3. Isaacs battled back at #1 singles after dropping the first set to take home a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 win. Herman was dominant at #2, winning 6-0, 6-0. Adams was a straight set winner at #3 6-2, 7-5. Alex Miller won in a breaker at #5 4-6, 6-2, 10-2 and Ally Miller won at #6 6-3, 7-6.
The Dukes traveled to Lutherville, Md. To take on Towson in their next match. In doubles, Isaacs and Herman won at #1 6-3 to put the Dukes up. But the Tigers would get wins at #2 and #3 to win the double point. In singles, the Dukes tied the score at 1-1 after Isaacs was a straight set winner at #1 6-3, 6-1. Duquesne went ahead 2-1 on Herman's 6-4, 6-2 win at #2. Towson tied the match at 2-2 with a win at #3 and went ahead 3-2, winning at #6. Alexa Miller tied the match at 3-3 with a 7-6. 6-1 win at #4. Towson won #5 singles to clinch the match.
