PITTSBURGH - April Robinson recorded the third triple-double in school history to lead the Duquesne women's basketball team to an 89-58 victory over the University of Dayton in the Atlantic 10 opener on Sunday afternoon. The game was nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.
Robinson finished the contest with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Amadea Szamosi scored 17, Kadri-Ann Lass and Deva'Nyar Workman 12 and Chassidy Omogrosso 10 for the Dukes (13-1) who extended their program long winning streak to 12 games and home winning streak to 18. The win was also the first over the Flyers since Jan. 15, 2011, stopping the streak at six games. Lauren Cannatelli had 16 points for Dayton (7-5).
Duquesne opened the game by scoring the first 10 points forcing a Dayton timeout at the 7:38 mark of the 1st quarter. The Dukes held the Flyers scoreless for the first four minutes before a Jodie Cornelie jumper put UD on the board. This would start an 11-2 run over the next 3:51 that cut the Dukes' lead to three points. A layup by Brianna Thomas followed by a 3-pointer from Robinson closed out the scoring with Duquesne leading 19-11.
The Dukes opened the 2nd quarter scoring with a Lass layup to give Duquesne a double-digit lead again at 21-11. The lead would reach 13 points on Robinson's 3-pointer at 7:45. The Dukes would end the quarter on a 15-3 run -- including eight points by Workman - to take a 41-20 lead into halftime.
A jumper by Szamosi follow by a 3-pointer from Omogrosso put Duquesne ahead by 26 points at 46-20 75 seconds into the 3rd quarter. An Angela Staffileno layup at 5:41 made the score 52-26, forcing a Dayton timeout. The lead would swell to 29 points at 59-30 after Robinson's layup.
The Dukes got their first 30-point lead early in the 4th quarter when Robinson found Szamosi for a layup that made the score 72-41. Conor Richardson's 3-pointer with 3:34 left made the score 83-46 and gave Duquesne its largest lead of the game at 37points.
As a team, Duquesne pulled down a season-tying 53 rebounds, led by Robinson's 10, Workman's nine and Lass' eight. The Dukes outrebounded the Flyers by 19. Duquesne assisted on 66 percent of their baskets (26 assists on 35 baskets). Duquesne made 52.2 percent of their shots (35-of-67).
Up next, Duquesne will travel to George Mason (6-8, 1-0 A-10) for a Thursday night matchup at 7:00 p.m. The Patriots are coming off a 73-63 overtime victory over Saint Louis on Saturday.

- The last triple-double was on Nov. 24, 2011 when Orsi Szecsi scored 16 points, 12 rebounds and a 10 assists - the other was Korie Hlede who had 29 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists against Cleveland State on Dec. 8, 1994
- Robinson surpassed Becky Oglevee and has moved into 12th place on Duquesne all-time scoring list with 1,298 points
- This was the eighth time Robinson recorded over 10 assists on one game
