Jan. 20, 2016 PHOENIX - Former Duquesne track and field standout Anna Simone has signed with ALTIS, a premier professional training company whose specialty is preparing athletes for the Olympic trials.
Under the direction of coach Kevin Tyler, a former Olympian representing Canada, Simone is training six days a week in both the 400m and 400m hurdles. She is focused on the 400m hurdles and is one of six females training at ALTIS in that event.
"It's truly been a surreal experience since coming to ALTIS because the training atmosphere is so positive and driven. I feel like I have died and gone to track heaven," said Simone.
The Pittsburgh native is currently seeking Italian citizenship in hopes to represent ITA's Olympic team this year.
During her time at Duquesne, Simone finished her career holding six school records, winning nine Atlantic 10 medals and qualified for the NCAA East Regionals three times and ECAC Qualifiers five times.
"I am very thankful of my coaching staff at Duquesne," added Simone. "Without their guidance and support, my dream of becoming a pro would have never come to fruition."
