July 9, 2015 Duquesne senior wide receiver Chris King (Crofton, Md./DeMatha Catholic) was one of four Northeast Conference players named to the 2015 STATS FCS Preseason All-America teams. King, who was named to the second team, became just the fifth Duquesne player to be named FCS Pre-Season All-America by STATS.
STATS LLC, the world's leading sports technology, data and content company, purchased The Sports Network (TSN) in February and will continue to serve the FCS community with such staples as a pre and postseason All-America teams, a weekly Top 25 poll, national players of the week, award watch lists and season-ending awards.
A first team All-NEC pick in 2014, King was second in the Northeast Conference and sixth in the country in touchdown receptions with 14 despite missing the season finale with an injury. His 1,127 receiving yards led the NEC, was 15th in the nation and was good for fourth best all-time in a season at Duquesne.
King, St. Francis senior running back Khairi Dickson (second team), Sacred Heart junior linebacker James Rentz (third team) and Wagner senior defensive lineman Al Page (third team) were the only Northeast Conference players named to the STATS three preseason teams. The three teams went 100 players deep, spread out among 63 schools from all 13 FCS conferences.
This is the third time in four years Duquesne has placed a player on the STATS preseason All-American Team. In 2013 senior linebacker Dorian Bell was named to the first team and in 2012 senior safety Serge Kona was honored.
The 2015 STATS All-America Team will be announced after the regular season in mid-December. Duquesne opens the 2015 season at home against Kentucky Christian on Sept. 5.
STATS will also present the four major awards in the division - FCS outstanding player, FCS outstanding defensive player, FCS outstanding freshman player and FCS coach of the year - after the season. In addition, STATS presents the FCS's most widely recognized weekly Top 25 poll and weekly awards honoring the nation's top offensive player, defensive player, special teams player and freshman.
