May 21, 2015 NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Academic All-Conference team was announced on Thursday, with this year's team highlighted by two Duquesne student-athletes.
The Dukes, who had two member of the 10-team squad, were represented by Sherie Key and Valerie Palermo.
Key, who was also on the 2014 All-Academic Team, won bronze in the triple jump (39-11.25) at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship. For her career, she has won a total of five outdoor medals, trying her for third-most in program history. Key is the outdoor record holder in high jump (5-8.75) and has the second longest mark in the triple jump (40-4.75). She has also been an ECAC qualifier in high jump, long jump and triple jump.
Currently pursuing a master's degree in multimedia with a GPA of 4.0, Key graduated in 2014 with a degree in public relations and advertising. Key has been on the Dean's List, Director of Athletics' Honor Roll and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Palermo was a silver medal winner in the steeplechase (10:31.85) and set a PR in the 1500m (4:34.82) at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championship. She set a PR in the steeplechase at the 2015 ECAC Championship with a time of 10:17.59. Palermo qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in the steeplechase.
Palermo, who has been on the Dean's List, Director of Athletics' Honor Roll and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, has a 3.86 GPA majoring in occupational therapy.
