Duquesne's lacrosse team gave #14 Ohio State all it could handle, but fell to 1-4 on the season with a 17-12 loss to the Buckeyes Sunday afternoon on Rooney Field.
The Dukes, which trailed 8-5 at halftime, scored the first three goals of the second half in a span of two minutes and 20 seconds to knot the contest at 8-8.
OSU however would rattle off the next four goals to take a 12-8 advantage at the 14:27 mark.
Duquesne responded with back-to-back goals to cut the deficit to 12-10 with 13:01 remaining, but the Buckeyes managed the next three goals to put the decision out of reach for the Red and Blue.
Tess Drotar led the Dukes with four goals and three draw controls and also added three ground balls. Jill Vacanti chipped in three goals while Kaelin Shaw had two. Clare Hurley had a goal, two assists and two draw controls.
The Dukes return to action on Wednesday, March 11 as they host St. Francis at 4:00 pm on Rooney Field.
