PITTSBURGH - Four players scored in double-figures as the Duquesne women's basketball team led wire-to-wire in their 83-47 victory over Davidson on Saturday afternoon at the Palumbo Center.

Deva'Nyar Workman scored 17 points off the bench for the Dukes (12-8, 4-3 A-10). April Robinson scored all 14 of her points in the 1st half and added a game-high seven assists. Belma Nurkic and Olivia Bresnahan added 12 and 10 points respectively. Jose-Ann Johnson grabbed eight rebounds. Workman also had a career-best six steals.

Dakota Dukes led the Wildcats (5-12, 1-6 A-10) with 17 points and Hannah Early scored 10.

It took 4:29 for Duquesne to build an 11 point lead on a pair of Nurkic free throws that made the score 15-4. During that time, the Dukes defense held Davidson to 2-of-7 shooting and forced a pair of turnovers. Duquesne doubled-up the Wildcats 26-13 at the 11:07 mark on a Workman steal and basket. The Dukes lead was 16 points at 31-15 by the midway point of the half. Robinson's third 3-pointer of the half gave Duquesne a 20 point lead at 43-23 with 3:16 remaining in the half. Davidson ended the half on a 9-3 run, making the score 46-32 heading into halftime.

Duquesne opened up the 2nd half by scoring the first seven points to take a 53-32 advantage. A driving left-handed layup by Bresnahan gave the Dukes a 25 point lead at 68-43 with 9:44 remaining. A 3-pointer by Nurkic capped a 20-5 run that extended the lead to 31 points at 78-47 heading into the under-4 media timeout. The lead got as high as 36 points on Tyra Jones' jumper with 11 seconds left that closed out the game's scoring.

"Today is a day where I am really happy with our performance on the offensive end," said head coach Dan Burt. "We shot the ball very well in the 1st half."

The Dukes were 15-of-26 for 57.7 percent in the 1st half, which was their third-best shooting half of the season.

"We challenged the kids at halftime to really close out with high hands and not come flying out leaving our feet. We did a much better job of that in the 2nd half.

After shooting 53.6 percent in the first half, the Duquesne defense held Davidson to 20.7 shooting in the 2nd half, 6-of-29. The Wildcats made only two of their last 16 shots.

"Dev wants to start. She's trying to prove to me every time she goes in the game. She had 17 points and seven rebounds in 18 minutes. I want to find more time for her."

Workman was 6-for-9 shooting, a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line and was a +16 for game.

"Up next are two very challenging games. Both are very well-coached teams that present different styles. These next two games are very critical."

Up next, the Dukes embark on a two-game New York road trip. On Jan. 28th, Duquesne travels to Olean, N.Y. to face long-time rival St. Bonaventure. On Jan. 31st, they go to the Bronx to visit defending Atlantic 10 Champion Fordham.
