"It was a tough loss today," said head coach Dan Burt. "We fell a little short at the end, but I am very proud of our effort."
"We were not helped by Dayton making more free throws than we attempted. We need to make our free throws and 3-pointers better."
The Flyers made 31-of-37 attempts for 83.8 percent compared to the Dukes' 18-of-29 (62.1 percent). Duquesne made a season-low three 3-pointers of 15 attempts (20 percent).
"We shot 29 percent from the field in the 2nd half, 63 percent from the line and 0-for-6 from the 3-point line. You cannot shoot that low of a percentage against a very good team like Dayton and win."
The Dukes were 11-of-38 from the field in the second half and finished 23-of-68 for 33.8 percent overall from the field.
"Our effort on the glass and defense was outstanding."
The Dukes outrebounded the Flyers 46-43 with a season-best 23 on the offensive side. Duquesne had 18 second chance points to Dayton's 12.
"We showed great grit and toughness, everyone at Duquesne should be proud of how hard our young women played."
