Dec. 5, 2014 Duquesne University junior linebacker Sam Martello (Westlake, Ohio/St. Edward) and junior defensive lineman Luis Quintana (Miami, Fla./Columbus) were named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District 2 Football Team for the second straight season.
Martello, an Accounting major with a 3.81 cumulative grade point average, was second on the team and 10th in the NEC with 86 tackles (46 solo). He also added seven tackles for a loss of 27 yards, two sacks for -14 yards, two pass break-ups, four quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.
Quintana finished the 2014 campaign with seven tackles (five solo), including three tackles for a loss of four yards. He added a sack for a loss of two yards and also had a quarterback hurry. The finance major also boasts a 3.81 grade point average.
Both student-athletes will be placed on the national ballot.
