Box Score

LORETTO - Saint Francis defensive back DaQuan Minter intercepted a Ryan Egolf pass mid-way through the fourth quarter and returned it 28 yards for a touchdown for a 16-10 lead the Red Flash would not relinquish in a 26-16 win over Duquesne Saturday afternoon in Loretto, Pa. SFU rattled off 20 straight fourth quarter points before Duquesne scored in the closing seconds.

After a scoreless first quarter, Duquesne ended the scoring drought as Austin Crimmins was good on an 18-yard field goal attempt as the Dukes took a 3-0 late with 5:13 remaining in the first half. The scoring drive was set up by Malik Shegog's team-best fourth interception of the season.

SFU would respond though as Lance Geesey connected on a 35-yard field goal as the first half clock expired, making it 3-3 at the intermission. The teams combined for just 159 yards of total offesne in the half.

After a 25-yard Geesey field goal made it 6-3 SFU, Ryan Ho scored on a 26-yard pass from Ryan Egolf with 1:46 remaining in the third quarter to make it 10-6 Dukes.

Saint Francis pulled to with one point on a 30-yard field goal, then took the 16-10 lead on the Minter interception return. Geesey then added his school record fourth field goal to make it 19-10 with 3:52 left in the game. The Red and Blue would go four-and-out, giving the Red Flash the ball at the Duquesne 26 yard line before quarterback Zack Drayer ran in from 18 yards out to make it 26-10 with 1:48 left.

Duquesne gave it one last effort, marching 75 yards in seven plays and scoring on an Egolf to Chris King seven-yard pass with six second remaining making it a 10-point deficit. The two-point pass attempt failed however as did the on side kick attempt.

Nathan Stone led the Dukes with 11 tackles (4 solo), followed by Rich Piekarski (9/6) and Zack Zidian (8/5).

The Dukes will host Bryant next Saturday, Nov. 8 in a noon kick-off.
