HARMAR, Pa. - Chandler Consonery's victory at #5 singles broke a 3-3 tie to give the Duquesne women's tennis team an exciting 4-3 victory over Toledo on Friday afternoon at Alpha Tennis and Fitness of Pittsburgh.

With the victory, the Dukes improve to 4-3 overall and ends a six-match losing streak against UT, dating back to 2005.

The doubles point started off by Toledo's Emily Mazzola and Mackenzie Brown were 8-4 winners over Chandler Consonery and Daniela Osio 8-4 at #3 before Judy Li and Alexa Miller took out Lexy Pitt and Pia Rygh 8-3 at #2. The double point would come down #1, Megan O'Sullivan and Sarah Shashura for the Dukes and Silvia Carvajal and Kate Nguyen for the Rockets.

UT took an early lead 4-1, but Duquesne battled back to make the score 4-3. With the match tied at 6-6, the Dukes were able to break serve and take a 7-6 lead. With O'Sullivan serving, DU had match point after back-to-back overheads by Shashura, but could not close out forcing a tie-breaker. Down 4-3, Duquesne won three straight points to take a 6-4 lead. UT would come back to tie at 6-6, but would commit and unforced error followed by a deep return off O'Sullivan's serve to win the tiebreaker 8-6 and the doubles point.

In singles, Li made quick work of Chrissy Coffman 6-0, 6-0 at #1 and O'Sullivan was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Rygh at the #2 spot. However, UT would go on to win at #3, #4 and #6 singles. This left the deciding match up to Consonery and Bowman. After dropping the first set 6-1, Consonery won the second set 6-3. In the third and final set, Consonery would come up with a 6-4 win to clinch the match for the Dukes.

Duquesne is off until March 2, when they host Cleveland State. Match time is 4:00 p.m.
