FROM THE NEC RELEASE

NEC Offensive Player of the Week
Gianni Carter, DUQUESNE
5-Sr., WR, 6-2, 212 lbs., Eugene, OR/Montana State

Carter's fourth 100-yard receiving performance of the season, which was highlighted by a key fourth-quarter touchdown grab, helped Duquesne to a 24-21 win over Central Connecticut and a share of the Northeast Conference crown. With the Dukes facing a 14-13 deficit midway through the fourth quarter on Senior Day in Pittsburgh, the Dukes were in need of a game-changing play and they called on the number of their senior captain. With quarterback Dillon Buechel going deep on a 1st-and-10 play from the Duquesne 34-yard line, Carter ran a perfect post pattern and separated himself from the defender to haul in a 66-yard scoring strike that gave the Dukes the lead for good. Averaging more than 22.0 yards per reception during Week 12, Carter caught five balls for 111 yards. He also drew a pass interference penalty that moved the Dukes into CCSU territory on their first possession of the fourth quarter. The 6-foot-2 Carter, who began his collegiate career at Big Sky member Montana State has made 50 receptions in 10 games this season to rank second on the league leader board behind Bryant's Jordan Harris.
