PITTSBURGH - Junior Devin Rahming (Miami, Fla./Coral Reef/Yuba College) was named NEC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Saturday's 34-7 win over Wagner.
Rahming, a receiver, returned a punt 62 yards for a score to fuel a 24-point fourth quarter for the Dukes.
The Miami, Fla. native finished with 107 yards on 6 punt returns. His touchdown on the punt return - which made the score 27-7 - was the first by a DU player since Joe Rosato took one 49 yards for a TD at Iona on Nov. 1, 1997.
Rahming added three catches for 27 yards in the Dukes' conference-opening win.
Players from Sunshine State figured prominently in Saturday's win. In addition to Rahming's 134 all-purpose yards, senior Jason Douglas (Opa-locka, Fla.) led the Dukes with 51 yards rushing (48 in the second half); sophomore Dave Thomas (Ocala, Fla.) had a career-high 6 catches for 42 yards and junior safety Chris Johnson (Ocala, Fla.) tied for team high with 8 tackles and added an interception.
Duquesne (3-2, 1-0) heads across town to face Robert Morris (2-3, 0-0) in an NEC match up on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6:00 p.m.
