YOUNGSTOWN - The Duquesne women's track and field team continued their excellent accomplishments for the 2012-13 indoor season on Saturday afternoon at the YSU Invitational held at the Watson and Tressel Training Site (WATTS). Three student-athletes were able to set their personal best or break a school record with their performances.
Haley Pisarcik broke the school record in the 1000M run with 2:56.56 and finished first out of 23 in the event. Elise Farris finished behind her in second with 2:57.48.
Sherie Key jumped 5-07.00 in the high jump to break the school record and also finished first, beating 25 other competitors.
Nicole Cherok set her personal best in the 200M dash with a time of 25.17. She was also first in the 400M dash with a time of 56.97.
The Dukes went first, second, and third in the 500M dash. Abby O'Connell won with 1:15.78, followed by Anna Simone (1:15:87) and Shannon Abraham (1:17.13).
Amber Valimont ran 5:01.35 to win the One Mile run. The 4x400M was once again victorious, beating 14 other schools and running 3:58.99.
Brittney Edwards won the triple jump with a distance of 39-01.00.
Scores were not kept for overall team standings for the event.
The Dukes will be traveling back to Youngstown for the YSU National Invitational that will be on Friday and Saturday.
