AKRON, Ohio - Several personal records were broken, a new school record in the 60m was recorded and two qualified for the 2011 ECAC Championship as the Duquesne women's track and field team turned in a fantastic performance at the University of Akron Open this past weekend.
Kristin Wenthen's time of 7.87 in the 60m set a new school record. Her PR prior to Akron was 8.07 at the 2010 Bucknell 6-Way.
Haley Pisarcik and Elise Farris each qualified for the ECAC Championship in the 800m with times of 2:11.92 and 2:13.27 respectively. The ECAC qualifying time in the 800m is 2:14.44.
Taylor Glenn set a PR in the 400m with her first place finish in the Blue Division. Glenn crossed in 57.25 - half a second ahead of the second place finisher.
Amber Valimont was second overall in the mile in the Gold Division, finishing with a PR time of 4:54.93.
This is the final tune-up before the 2011 Atlantic 10 Women's Track Indoor Championship. The two-day event begins on Feb. 18th and concludes the following day. Rhode Island will be host school for the championship. The ECAC Championship will be held Mar. 4-5 at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center in Boston, Mass.
