Totino Named NEC Defensive Player of the Week

PITTSBURGH - Duquesne senior linebacker Nathan Totino (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton-La Salle) was named Northeast Conference Football Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's 17-13 season-opening win over Bucknell on Saturday.

Totino, Duquesne's leading tackler in each of the past two seasons, finished with a game-high 13 stops (10 solo) in posting his 16th career double-digit tackle game.

The Pittsburgh native, who entered the season ranked sixth nationally in the FCS in career tackles per game, helped the Dukes hold Bucknell without an offensive touchdown and 178 yards of total offense. Totino logged four tackles (three solo) in the fourth quarter as the Dukes held the Bison to just 70 yards in the second half.

Duquesne (1-0), returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 11 at home against Dayton (1-0). Game time is set for 12:00 (EDT).
