PITTSBURGH - Duquesne sophomore quarterback Sean Patterson (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) was named Northeast Conference Football Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Duquesne's come-from-behind 35-31 win over Dayton on Saturday.
With Duquesne trailing 31-28 and 1:24 to go, Patterson drove the Dukes 66 yards before finding tight end Sean Bunevich with an eight-yard touchdown pass with 21 seconds left to seal the win. It was the sophomore's third touchdown pass of the game.
Earlier in the game Patterson, who was making his fourth career start, led Duquesne on back-to-back scores in the final 2:45 of the first half to tie it at 21-21.
The 6-1, 200-pound lefty completed 27-of-40 passes for 326 yards and ran 13 times for 49 more. His touchdown passes covered 31, 13 and eight yards.
Patterson currently ranks 10th nationally in total offense at 282 ypg. through two games.
Patterson is the second DU player to earn NEC honors in as many weeks, joining senior linebacker Nathan Totino who was the conference's Defensive Player of the Week last week.
