PHILADELPHIA - Lauren Mcdermott's goal with 7:31 to play broke a 10-10 deadlock and lifted La Salle to a 13-11 victory over the Duquesne lacrosse team on Sunday afternoon.
The Dukes fall to 5-6, 1-1 A-10 while the Explorers improve to 6-4, 2-0.
Cailin Colegrove led the Dukes with three goals and Kat McNish, Meghan Frederick and Katie Rekart all recorded three points each.
La Salle's Jill Davis scored a game-high five goals.
After spotting the Explorer's an early goal, McNish, Colegrove and Frederick scored consecutive goals to take a 3-1 lead at the 19:44 mark of the first half.
The teams would exchange goals two more times before Rekart's goal with 53 seconds remaining in the half up DU up 6-3 heading into halftime.
Casey Denk started off the second half with a goal 25 seconds in, to give Duquesne a 7-3 advantage.
The teams went back-and-forth again exchanging goals three more times - the last being a Colegrove free position goal at 16:52 to up DU up 10-6.
LAS would respond with six straight goals over the next 12 minutes including the game-winner from Davis with 4:20 to play.
Colegrove scored with 69 seconds left to get Duquesne within one goal at 12-11, but the Explorers won the ensuing draw and scored with one second left to take the 13-11 victory.
Next up for the Dukes is St. Bonaventure on Thursday. Match time is at 4:00 p.m.
