LEWISBURG, Pa. - Cailin Colegrove's goal with 23:44 remaining in the second half broke a 7-7 tie and put the Duquesne lacrosse team ahead for good in its 15-8 victory over Bucknell on Sunday afternoon.
Kat McNish and Katie Rekart each scored five goals for the Dukes (2-5) who have won three straight against the Bison.
The Dukes got on the board quick on a McNish goal 1:40 into the match. However, the DU lead was short-lived, as the Bison would score 30 seconds later, then add two more goals over the next four minutes.
Duquesne would go ahead 4-3 after Rekart's second goal of the game at 18:06, but BU would rattle off four straight goals to take a 7-4 lead. McNish would close out the first half scoring with 2:09 left to send the game into halftime with the Bison leading 7-5.
Sarah Cates opened up the second half scoring 24 seconds in followed by Rekart's third of the game one minute later which tied the match at 7-7.
Colegrove would net what would be the game-winning goal at the 23:44 mark followed by Rekart's fourth of the match at 22:17 to put DU up 9-7.
Bucknell would get within one goal after Madison Hurwitz's goal at 21:49, but Duquesne would finish the game by scoring the last six goals and taking the 15-8 victory.
Liz Walker, who replaced Caitlin Carducci in net at the 5:06 mark of the first half, picked up her first win of the season.
The Dukes will play its first game of the season at Rooney Field on Friday afternoon when Detroit visits the Bluff. Match time is 4:00 p.m.
