Duquesne University men's tennis coach Rob Castille recently announced the signing of two recruits to National Letters of Intent. Alex Aleman (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy) and Richard Robbie (Harwich Port, Mass./Thayer Academy) will be the newest Dukes.
Aleman comes to Duquesne as a three-time high school state qualifier. As a freshman, he was a state quarterfinalist in singles, as a sophomore, he was a state champion in doubles and as a junior, he placed fourth in the state in singles. A four-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net, he is ranked sixth in Ohio and 140th in the nation. He was also named the Player of the Year by both the Akron Beacon Journal and the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Robbie is a two-time ISL All-League Award recipient, going a combined 30-3-1 in singles play and 30-4 in doubles play during those two seasons. A Boston Globe ISL All-Star, he is also a four-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net, ranked number three in Massachusetts and number 149 in the nation. He has been among the top 10 in the New England USTA in each age group and represented New England on the Zonal team three tmes.
"We are excited to have Alex and Richard join the men's tennis program at Duquesne University," said head coach Rob Castille. "Both will be great additions both on and off the court and I am looking forward to working with them for the next four years. They will fit in well with the guys in our program and I expect them to contribute immediately starting next fall."
