Women's Tennis Comes Up Short at Youngstown State

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - The Duquesne women's tennis team lost a close match to Youngstown State on Tuesday afternoon by the score of 4-3. The Dukes fall to 5-10 on the season.

Despite winning the doubles point, DU won only two of the six singles points.

The loss was the first against the Penguins since 2004 and only their second win over DU in their last 10 tries.

Duquesne continues their road swing as they visit Dayton on Friday and Xavier on Saturday.


MATCH NOTES

  • With their doubles wins, the teams of Zena Williams and Rachel McGowan and Rebecca Poole and Samantha Noble improve to 15-3 and 12-3 respectively on the season
  • This was the 32nd all-time meeting with Youngstown State - the series began in 1987 and the Dukes hold a 25-7 advantage
  • DU falls to 0-2 all-time on March 24th. Their only other match on that date was in 1996 - a 8-1 loss against Marshall
