MONROEVILLE - The Duquesne women's tennis team improved to 3-3 on the season and remained a perfect 3-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference play after a pair of victories this weekend.
The Dukes shutout St. Bonaventure 7-0 on Saturday and defeated George Washington 5-2 on Sunday.
Rachel McGowan had an outstanding weekend at No. 2 singles, taking both matches - 6-1, 6-2 against SBU and 6-3, 6-1 over GW. Paired with Zena Williams, the duo remained undefeated at doubles on the season, 10-0, after their 8-4 win over the Colonials at No. 1 doubles.
Freshman Samantha Noble had her best weekend to date by recording a pair of singles wins at the No. 4 spot - 6-1, 6-0 over the Bonnies and 6-2, 6-0 against GW. In her first match at the No.1 double position, Noble with partner Rebecca Poole were 8-2 winners over SBU. The pair defeated George Washington at No. 2 doubles 8-2.
Alexandria Albano and Tara Majdalani also recorded a pair of singles wins this weekend. Lanna Buehler made her 2009 A-10 debut as she paired with Majdalani, winning at No. 2 doubles against SBU, 8-2. Stephanie Novakowski, with Albano, also picked up a doubles win over the Bonnies, as SBU defaulted No. 3 doubles.
Friday afternoon, the Buffalo Bulls visit the Club 4 Life. Match time will be at noon.
