PHILADELPHIA - Freshman Zena Williams was named Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Rookie Performer in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches. Williams, who finished the season tied for first in the A-10 with 27 singles wins and second with 44 total wins, was also named All-Conference first-team.
Senior Johanna Bezjak was named All-Conference second-team. Bezjak, who was the 2008 team captain, had 33 total wins and finished her Duquesne career with 127 wins. Additionally, she was also named to the Academic All-Conference. A pharmacy major, Bezjak had a grade point average of 3.50.
Joining Bezjak on the All-Conference second-team is junior Rebecca Poole. She led the Dukes with 18 doubles wins and was second with 19 singles wins.
This is the second straight season both Bezjak and Pool were named All-Conference second-team.
The Dukes finished 13-7 and were seeded fourth at the 2008 Atlantic 10 Championship.
