LEWISBURG - Liz Fey's goal with 9:49 remaining was the first of four late scores that lifted the Duquesne lacrosse team to a 12-9 win at Bucknell Thursday evening in their final non-conference match of the 2008 season.
Janna Faulkner found the net after 2:40 after Fey to break a 9-9 tie and goals by Kat McNish and Fey added insurance for the Dukes (3-6) who won their second game in a row and three of their last four.
Sarah Cates' unassisted goal at the 27:55 mark of the first half gave DU an early 1-0 lead before the Bison came back with three consecutive goals.
McNish recorded the first of her game-high seven points on an assist on Sarah Carson's goal at the 15:35 mark. A pair of Ashley Wood goals followed to give the Dukes a 4-3 lead with 5:49 left in the half.
Bucknell answered with two consecutive goals before Meghan Frederick and Cates closed out the first half scoring giving DU a 6-5 halftime lead.
McNish opened the second half scoring on an unassisted goal, but a pair of Bison goal tied the score at 7-7 with 21:41 left.
Wood's third goal of the match gave Duquesne an 8-7 lead, but a pair of BU goals 1:37 apart gave the Bison a 9-8 advantage at the 15:02 mark.
The Dukes would score the next four goals inside the 10-minute mark to steal the victory on the road 12-9.
Liz Walker, the two-time reigning Atlantic 10 rookie of the week, made six saves as she recorded her third win of the season.
Conference play begins in 10 days when the Dukes travel to Philadelphia to take on Temple Mar. 20. DU opens its home season the first weekend of April as they host George Washington Apr.4 and Richmond Apr. 6.
