SOUTH BEND - The Duquesne women's lacrosse team opened their most difficult schedule in program history Sunday afternoon at #13 Notre Dame Sunday afternoon. The Fighting Irish jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and rolled to a 16-4-victory.
Notre Dame's Jillian Byers scored five of her game-high six goals in the first half as UND took an 11-1 lead into halftime.
The Firghting Irish extended their lead to 13-1 after scored the first two goals of the second half before Caitilin Kilty set up Janna Faulkner for the Dukes' second goal of the game. After Notre Dame's Jackie Doherty scored, Wood found the net for the second time in the game with 13:53 remaining.
Sarah Cates' goal from Lea Lamatina with 1:28 left closed out the scoring before Notre Dame's Jane Stoeckert and Lauren deMello gave the Irish their 15th and 16th goals of the game.
Keepers Caitlin Carducci and Liz Walker combined for seven saves.
Notre Dame (2-0) outshot Duquesne 14-10 and grabbed four more ground balls (11-7).
The Dukes will remain on the road, as they visit Ohio State Tuesday. Face off is at 4:00 p.m.
