MORGANTOWN - West Virginia's Liz Repella (21 points, 12 rebounds) and Takisha Granberry (10 points, 13 rebounds) each recorded a double-double and Ashley Powell added 10 points as the Duquesne women's basketball team lost its third game in a row Sunday afternoon, 59-41, at the WVU Coliseum.
Keri Pryor led the Dukes with 13 points.
DU started out the game by missing their first six shots and did not score until a Pryor jumper at the 15:21 mark.
Granberry's layup at the midway point of the half broke a 10-10 tie and gave the Mountaineers a lead they would hold the rest of the game.
Duquesne missed all eight of their 3-point attempts and shot just 23.1 percent from the floor in the first half as West Virginia would take a 27-16 lead into halftime.
The Mountaineers began the second half on a 10-2 run to extend their lead to 19 points at the 15:23 mark.
Back-to-back 3-pointers by Repella gave WVU their largest lead of the game, 21 points, at 43-22 with 13:35 remaining.
DU came back with an 11-0 run led by Kristi Little who scored seven of those points. Pryor's layup with 9:22 left in the game cut WVU's to 10 points at 43-33.
West Virginia answered Duquesne's run by scoring 11 of the game's next 12 points to build an insurmountable 20-point lead at 54-34 with 6:10 left.
A Peck layup closed out the scoring with the Dukes falling 59-41.
"Today's game was truly a struggle from the get-go," said Duquesne head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio. "We were out hustled, out rebounded and had a hard time in every aspect of the game."
The Dukes finished the game with season-lows in seven different categories including shooting 25.9 percent from the floor and making just five percent (1-of-20) of their 3-pointers.
"We have a week to get back on track," added McConnell-Serio, whose team had a week off before visiting cross-town rival Robert Morris next Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
