PITTSBURGH - Kristi Little scored a career-best 26 points as Duquesne upset Dayton 83-69 to end the Flyers 16-game winning streak that was currently longest in the nation.

The victory improves the Dukes to 10-8 overall and 1-2 in the Atlantic 10 while the Flyers, who have not lost since November 10, fall to 16-3, 2-1. The victory also gives head coach Suzie McConnell-Serio her first Atlantic 10 Conference victory.

Kristin Daugherty led the Flyers with 20 points.

A Keri Pryor jumper with 2:30 remaining in the first half gave DU a 30-29 lead and started a 7-0 run sending the Dukes into halftime with a 35-29 advantage. Dayton got within four points early in the second half at 37-33, but Duquesne held off the Flyers and built up a 10 point lead at the 16:05 mark.

Little scored 11 straight points for Dukes in just over three minutes beginning at the 12:31 mark of the second half to take over the game. The Flyers would only get as close as five points but DU held off any attempt of a comeback as the came away with one of the biggest upsets in recent program history.

"This was a scary team coming in, they have so many weapons, but players picked up the defensive intensity" said McConnell-Serio. "This is the best we executed all year. Dayton came out very aggressive in the second half, but when they made a run at us, we answered."

After struggling from the foul line in their last game against Saint Louis going 14-25, the Dukes were 20-25 tonight. "I preach that close games are won and lost at the foul line," added McConnell-Serio.

Jocelyn Chandler, who was one of four Dukes in double figures, scored a season-high 19 points and was 10-12 from the foul line.

The Dukes offense tied a team-high with 83 points and was the most points allowed by the Flyers this season. Duquesne out rebounded Dayton 45-30. The Dukes also outshot the Flyers .467 to .357. Both team connected on seven 3-pointers.

"I couldn't be more proud of our team," said McConnell-Serio. "We're going to enjoy this and get ready for Xavier."

The Dukes will host the Musketeers Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
