BUFFALO, N.Y. - Duquesne (5-5) scored the game's first 11 goals and never looked back as they dropped Canisius 15-5 in the snow Thursday afternoon.
Meghan Frederick scored four goals in the win, while Kathleen McNish, Becky Greene Sarah Cates, Courtney Tamasitis and Janna Faulkner added two goals apiece for the Red & Blue. McNish also added three assists to tally a game-high five points.
The Dukes jumped out early, scoring four goals in the game's first 4:29. They increased their lead to 10-0 at the 14:00 mark after Greene found the back of the net on a free-position shot. The Golden Griffins finally got on the board with 6:10 left before halftime after Marissa Brown tallied an unassisted tally.
Caitlin Carducci made one save in the first 30 minutes and picked up the win for Duquesne while Meghan Holleran made three saves between the pipes in the second
The Dukes dominated the Griffs in shots (25-8) and led in ground balls (24-20).
Next up for Coach Scerbo's team is St. Bonaventure on Tuesday. Game time for the Atlantic 10 opener is 4:00 p.m. at Rooney Field.
