PITTSBURGH - Temple scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back as the Owls handed the Dukes their second consecutive defeat 10-7 Sunday afternoon at Rooney Field.
The loss drops the Red & Blue to 7-8 overall and 2-3 in Atlantic 10 Conference play while Temple improved to 5-9, 3-2.
Down 4-0, Meghan Frederick got DU on the board at the 8:51 mark of the first period to give the Dukes their only goal of the stanza.
Duquesne's first five goals of the second period were immediately answered by Temple. Janna Faulkner assisted on a Courtney Tamasitis goal just 38 seconds into the second half to bring the Dukes within three goals at 5-2. Becky Greene scored twice and Stacie Pollock, Keri Drexel and Frederick all found the back of the net for the Red & Blue in the second half.
The teams had 25 shots a piece, while Temple had the advantage with ground balls 17-11 and draw controls 13-7. Temple keeper Bridget McMullan made 13 saves to the Duke' Caitlin Carducci who stopped nine Owls shots.
The Dukes conclude the regular season this weekend traveling to George Washington (4/27) and Richmond (4/29).
