Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Duquesne University lacrosse team dropped a 15–8 Atlantic 10 contest to Rhode Island on Saturday at Rooney Field.
Emma Raines led the Dukes with three goals, recording her team-leading seventh hat trick of the season. She also added an assist on a
Megan Marco goal in the second quarter to finish with four points.
Gracin Emerson continued her record-setting season with two assists and one goal, pushing her NCAA Division I-leading total to 49 assists.
Duquesne responded from an early deficit with a 4-0 second quarter.
Chelsea Evans connected with
Mia Piocquidio shortly after halftime to tie the game at 6–6, capping a 5–0 Dukes run. The Rams answered with four straight goals and closed the game by scoring nine of the final 11.
Defensively, Duquesne forced 25 turnovers, including 17 caused turnovers, a season high.
Chelsea Evans led the effort with a career-high six caused turnovers and five ground balls.
Casey McBride added four caused turnovers and four ground balls, while Piocquidio and
Addison Scanlon each collected four ground balls.
Ella Roach made 11 saves in goal, marking her fifth double-digit save performance of the season, including four in the fourth quarter.
