Washington, D.C. – Madison Welch earned Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honors following a record-setting performance in the draw circle, as announced Monday by the conference office.

Welch set a Duquesne single-game record with 15 draw controls in Saturday's matchup against George Mason. It marked the second time this season she has broken the program's single-game record after previously recording 14 draw controls in a win at Mercyhurst on Feb. 25.

A native of Pittsford, New York, Welch posted game highs in both contests last week, tallying seven draw controls at St. Bonaventure before her 15 against George Mason. Duquesne held the advantage in the draw in both matchups.

Welch currently ranks second in the Atlantic 10 in draw controls per game and becomes the first Duke to earn a weekly honor this season.
