INDIANA, PA- The Duquesne women's track & field team put together an impressive showing this weekend at the Western Pennsylvania Championships. DU claimed two event titles on the day en route to a third place finish in a field of 12 teams.
Melissa Miller had an outstanding day for the Red & Blue, finishing third in both the 100m dash (12.98) and the 200m dash (26.20). She was also part of the second place 4x100 meter relay team along with Shonte Cook, Ashley Earnest and Erica Moody that crossed in 49.70 and the first place 4x400 meter relay team with Moody, Kathleen Parker and Charlene Garth that finished with a time of 4:01.35.
Parker placed fourth in the 800m crossing in 2:28.29 while Moody finished fifth in the 200m (26.44).
Daniela Siciliano captured first place in the pole vault as she had a mark of 10'6". This jump was just four inches short of her gold medal winning performance at the 2007 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.
Melissa Stewart finished in the top four in three different events. She had a throw of 43'3.75" in the shot put which earned her second place. In the hammer throw she threw for 143'10" which earned her a fourth place finish and her 133'4.50" distance in the discus was good for third place.
The Dukes' next event will be in Durham, N.C. for the Duke Invitational. The two-day event will be held at Wallace Wade Stadium April 6 and 7.
