Duquesne University's women's indoor track and field team won five medals Saturday at the Bucknell Winter Classic at Gerhard Fieldhouse in Lewisburg, Pa. The Dukes won a pair of silver and three bronze medals.
Senior Brianne Scott (Stony Point, NY) finished second in the mile run with a time of 5:15.79. Freshman Katie Kelly (Broomall, PA) also took second place, finishing the 1000 meter run in 3:05.70.
Junior Kaitlin Yasko's (Pittsburgh, PA) time of 11:00.37 was the third best in the 3000 meter run. Freshman Daniela Siciliano (Murrysville, PA) finished third in the pole vault with a leap of 2.85 meters (9 feet, 4¼ inches).
The quartet of Kelly, senior Elizabeth Graham (North Huntingdon, PA) and freshmen Carly Brickett (Pittsburgh, PA) and Sara Cimino (Cockeysville, MD) took third place in the 4 x 400 meter relay race. They finished the 10-team competition in 4:11.73, almost five full seconds ahead of 4th place Carnegie Mellon.
The Dukes next compete in the Atlantic 10 Conference's Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at 9:00 a.m. at URI's Mackal Fieldhouse in Kingston, R.I.
