First year head coach Jake Ouimet made his home debut with a 1-0 win over visiting cross-town rival and 2005 NCAA participant Robert Morris Sunday afternoon on Arthur J. Rooney Athletic Field. Freshman forward Alex Trujillo (Whitby, Ontario) scored the game-winner just 20 seconds into his collegiate debut at 39:39 in the first period from sophomore Brock Weaver (Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier). Trujillo headed the ball which hit the base of the left goal post and ricocheted into the right side of the net for the lone score.
Senior keeper Zach Varga (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) recorded five saves facing five shots on goal. The Colonials took 15 shots in the game and had several blocked by the Dukes' defense, including a high shot with 23:14 ticking in the second frame which was headed out of the goal by senior defender Noah Salsi for the team save.
The Dukes (2-0-1) out-shot Robert Morris (1-2-0) 23-15 for the game.
Duquesne will compete in the Bucknell Tournament Sept. 8-9 facing Rider and Campbell respectively.
